Corporate Initiatives Engineer

Position Summary:

The Corporate Initiatives Engineer reports directly to the CEO and will be involved in a wide variety of initiatives focused on improving Resco’s profitability. These projects, which could range from a few days to a few months each, will focus on overall efficiency, manufacturing execution, pricing strategies, digitization and automation, product quality, inventory tracking and more. Work may take place at corporate headquarters or at one of our eleven manufacturing facilities

Essential Functions:
- Work with CEO to identify, scope and create deliverables for key projects
- Quickly come up to speed on background and essential elements of each project
- Prepare by seeking out guidance and knowledge from key stakeholders / SMEs
- Perform initial fact-finding on-site which may include interviews, review of documentation, process mapping, observation, data collection, etc.
- Develop strong working relationship with local teams for both understanding “as-is” and in designing and implementing “to be”
- Identify best practices vis-à-vis project subject both within and outside of the organization
- Perform analyses necessary to support potential paths forward
- Present and discuss initial findings and potential solutions with CEO and other members of the staff
- Identify resources required to implement solution (i.e, equipment, process, people, tools, etc)
- Work with local team on implementation

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Other Attributes:
- B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial preferred)
- 2-5 years of experience working in an engineering or industrial environment
- Demonstrated practical problem-solving skills
- Strong analytical skills and knowledge of rudimentary statistics
- Highly intellectually curious
- Ability to work independently and be mostly self-directed on a daily basis
- Comfortable in both office and industrial environments
- Enjoy working on a broad range of problems, leveraging an array of skills

Work Requirements:
The work associated with this position will take place both in an office environment and in a number of our manufacturing facilities. When in manufacturing facilities, the engineer may be required to climb stairs, be capable of lifting small amounts of weight (<20 lbs) and be comfortable wearing personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, dust masks, steel toed shoes, etc).

Travel Requirements:
Many of the projects will take place at our manufacturing facilities in the US and Canada. Travel to these locations is expected and may represent 50-75% of the employee’s time.
